He may be one of the quietest, most unassuming CrossFit stars, but after his 2020 Games appearance, French-Canadian Jeffrey Adler is most definitely on everyone's radar.

He came 33rd in his rookie appearance at the games, however didn't garner much fanfare. But when he qualified for the final five of the 2020 edition, fans got to see him up close and personal as he challenged now retired five-time champion Mat Fraser in a number of events. He didn't say much, but he definitely showed the world he was more than ready to shine on the biggest of stages. 

Finishing fifth in the scaled down version which took place on a ranch in Southern California meant Adler was now a household name within the world of CrossFit. His 2020 CrossFit Open win possibly now means he is the statistical favourite to win the 2020 CrossFit Games. He is continuing his progression as an athlete in leaps and bounds. 

Adler's strength has always been in weightlifting, and lifting heavy weights. But during the 2020 edition of the games, and now the 2021 open, he's shown his versatility and that he is still getting better as he rounds out various skills. The ceiling has yet to be reached for the 26-year-old, and unlike older veterans such as Patrick Vellner and Noah Ohlsen, he's got years left of competing in his prime.

After Fraser called in quits this February, the men's division of CrossFit instantly became a dog fight, and everyone and their dog was thrown out as a potential replacement atop the CrossFit throne. But now we have our first tangible result of the 2021 season, and Adler has taken the lead on paper heading into the quarterfinals.
